Alameda County East Piano Competition
The purpose of our branch competition is to provide an opportunity for students who have few or no competition experience in a warm and inclusive atmosphere. We hope that you will encourage your students to enter the competition. Not only this is a valuable experience for the students, but the contestants will receive written, helpful comments from each highly qualified jury before CM.
MTAC Alameda East 2025 Piano Competition

~ Winners Concert - The following Saturday, March 8th, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
All the winners in all divisions will be invited to play a live recital as part of the competition!
~ Repertoire Change Deadline : 2/01/25 - is the last day participant may request repertoire change
~ RECORDINGS
Unlike last year, where we recorded all the participants, we will only be recording the winners concert. Each student winner who participates in the winners concert will receive their own recording of the performance a few days after the recital. The videos will be put on our branch’s YouTube channel like previous years. If the student desires a recording for any reason, please reach out to Hansen Liu (hliupiano@gmail.com) privately.

5 students maximum per teacher
1. Students have to submit a scan of the sheet music to us for the judges. Dropbox link will be provided after deadline.
2. Students should dress in proper recital attire and conduct themselves appropriately.
3. Students must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the first performance of the division.
4. Students who arrive after the first performer has begun will not be allowed to play. NO EXCEPTIONS.
5. Competition will be divided into 4 sections. A (8-10 yrs old), B (11-12), C (13-15), and D (16-18). *PLEASE NOTE THE AGE REQUIREMENT CHANGES* in Division B and C! (Used to be B. 11-13, C. 14-15)
6. Students must remain for the entire division performance, including the winner recognition.
7. Student performances must not exceed 8 minutes. No repeats. Please note we may ask for further reduction of music if deemed necessary.
8. ALL performances must be memorized.
9. If student choose an arrangement piece, please follow the CM rules. (Syllabus page 10)
10. Participants must sign a consent form that allows us to take pictures and video at the event. (Will be provided after deadline)
11. Application window may close before January 1st, 2025 deadline. Space is limited so please register ASAP.
12. Returning contestants who were awarded first place in the previous year will NOT be allowed to enter the same division.
13. Winners will be recognized at the end of each section. Judge's decisions will be final.

Once again, please do NOT reach out to the church yourself.
Winners will be asked for additional permission to share their video on our branch YouTube Channel. We will have a "winners" video uploaded to YouTube afterward for people to share.
Registration fee will be $80 per student. The payment MUST be received by January 1st. Only online payment from the TEACHERS will be accepted. Please go to https://www.mtac-alamedaeast.org/onlineforms and use PayPal to make your payment. All application fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
